Since 1998, I’ve been helping flutists of all ages discover their voice through the flute. I currently teach private flute lessons at Music Makers for Life, Inc. in Crystal Lake, Illinois, and also offer virtual lessons for students who prefer the comfort and flexibility of remote learning.
What to Expect
Every student is different, so lessons are tailored to individual goals and skill levels. Whether you’re just starting out or preparing for auditions, I offer a supportive and structured approach that builds technique, confidence, and musical expression.
Methods & Materials

Beginners start with Standard of Excellence, Book 1 by Bruce Pearson.

As students progress, we transition to the Rubank Method series and Trevor Wye’s Flute Practice Books, focusing on tone, articulation, and phrasing.

Intermediate students are also introduced to piccolo, ensuring they become confident with both flute and piccolo playing.

Every lesson includes music theory instruction to deepen understanding and improve sight-reading and musicianship.
Performance Opportunities
Students prepare a solo for two annual recitals:

Christmas Recital (December)

Spring Recital (End of May)
These performances are a wonderful way to showcase progress, build stage confidence, and celebrate musical growth.
