Meet Cascia Talbert

Hi! I’m Cascia Talbert, also known as The Country Flutist.

I’ve been teaching flute since 1998, and over the years I’ve had the privilege of helping students of all ages build confidence through music. In addition to teaching private lessons, I perform regularly, arrange sheet music, record music, and create educational resources for beginning flutists here on CountryFlutist.com.

Because every student learns differently, I tailor each lesson to your individual goals and learning style.

Methods & Materials

To build a strong foundation, beginners start with Standard of Excellence, Book 1 by Bruce Pearson.
Then, as students progress, we transition to the Rubank Method series and Trevor Wye’s Flute Practice Books, focusing on tone, articulation, and phrasing.
Additionally, intermediate students are also introduced to piccolo, ensuring they become confident with both flute and piccolo playing.
Throughout each lesson, students also receive music theory instruction to deepen understanding and improve sight-reading and musicianship.

Do I need any experience?

No! Beginners are always welcome.

How old should students be?

Most children are ready to begin flute lessons around age 8, when they have the lung capacity and hand size needed to play comfortably. Every child develops differently, so I’m happy to discuss whether your child is ready to begin.

Can adults learn?

Absolutely!

What equipment do I need?

Flute, music stand, assigned lesson books and computer if taking lessons online.

Do you only teach beginners?

No. I can teach all levels from those just starting out to adults with several years of experience.

Do you only teach flute?

No. I am able to teach all woodwinds including clarinet, saxophone, and oboe. Contact Me to request more information about taking lessons on other instruments.
