Product Description
“I Hope You Dance” is a crossover country-pop ballad written by Mark D. Sanders and Tia Sillers, recorded by American country singer Lee Ann Womack featuring Sons of the Desert. (Drew and Tim Womack of Sons of the Desert are not related to Lee Ann.) Released in March 2000 as the lead single from Womack’s album I Hope You Dance, the song topped both the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks and Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks charts, while also peaking at number fourteen on the Billboard Hot 100. Widely regarded as Womack’s signature song, it remains the only Billboard number one for both Womack and Sons of the Desert.
The song is a heartfelt mid-tempo ballad where the narrator expresses her hopes and dreams for an unnamed “you.” Although not originally intended as a message from a parent to a child, it has since become embraced as a song of encouragement for those grieving a loss, inspiring them to embrace life and move forward with hope.
This arrangement is for solo flute with piano accompaniment.
